Snapchat, the once controversial app for teens, has officially found itself a new audience: parents. Although this has been true for quite some time now, the fact that Snapchat has finally reached the mainstream has never been more clear and precise than in the last week. Just last Monday, the White House started its official Snapchat account.
Although the current generation of teenagers is known for abandoning social apps once their parents join in, the mere fact that Snapchat has become more mainstream is a huge plus for the company. Should the app successfully manage to transition from teen app phenomenon to mainstream social media platform, then its legacy will not be the delinquent teens who originally made it infamous, but something that everyone can appreciate.
