On February 2, 2016, institutional investment magazine Alpha Southeast Asia gave The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE) an award for Best Stock Exchange in Southeast Asia. The awarding occurred during the Marquee Awards of the 9th Alpha Southeast Asia Deal & Solution Awards held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“We take pride in being named the Best Stock Exchange in Southeast Asia for the second time in the last three years. We share this recognition to our stakeholders who have been supportive of our projects and initiatives,” said PSE President and CEO Hans B. Sicat.
The honor was bestowed on PSE for its efforts in encouraging world-class standards of disclosure and corporate governance among its listed firms as well as accomplishing its trading system shift in record time. The awarding-body also cited the PSE index, which soared to historic highs in April of 2015.
