This month, a Ushio Inc., a Japanese light maker brand has launched an ultraviolet lamp that kills coronavirus without harming humans.
The lamp is said to be the first of its kind in the world. Dubbed as the “Care 222” UV lamp, the lamp is built for the disinfection of public places. Ushio developed the said technology with Columbia University.
Care 222 UV lamp emits UV rays in a wavelength of 222 nanometers which makes the light deadly for germs like the coronavirus.
The brand said that a study conducted by Hiroshima University confirmed that the 222-nanometer UV rays are effective in killing coronavirus.
The lamp costs 300,000 yen ($2,860) and is currently available for advanced orders made by medical companies.
