Plants Unaffected by Mt. Apo Fire, According to EDC

Energy Development Corp. stated that its geothermal plants in Mt. Apo continue to remain unaffected by the fire in the area. According to the Lopez-led company, the fire was around 7 kilometers from their geothermal business facility’s perimeter. The company has been described by business unit head James Arnold D. Villaroman as being “keenly aware of the fire risks at Mt. Apo when there is drought.”

“Having planted over 2.5 million trees that we wish to nurture and protect, we proactively created layer upon layer of fire breaks in the forest just for this precise risk. Some of our fire breaks are over 20 meters wide, way over global recommended practice. Protecting our asset is something we take very seriously.” As of press time, the company revealed that it was closely monitoring the fire.
