Bill Gates to End Poverty Using Chickens

Earlier this month, Bill Gates discussed about how chickens are a new asset that can provide sky-high returns at the World Trade Center.

According to the richest man in the world, there is no investment that has a return percentage anything like being able to breed chickens. Gates added that his goal is to help West Africa, where 5% of the families have chickens, then eventually increase that country by country up to 30%.

The goal is an ambitious one as it actually works like hitting two birds in one stone. Chickens will be used to improve people’s nutrition and to generate income in one of the most deprived parts of the world.

Bill Gates explained that it’s all simple Math. Within three months of breeding, a farmer who has three hens and a rooster can multiply them to 12 chickens. It can multiply up to 250 chickens in a year. A small capital of four chickens can produce birds that are worth $1,250 annually, a profit that can solve poverty.

Gates’ foundation will provide the initial capital to start the plan. He has already invested $7million to start the work in Ethiopia. His foundation has $400 million in its animal farming programs.
