Taiwanese startup, iStaging, offers home decorators a better and easier option than imagining objects in place by allowing users to drop virtual models of furniture into designated places, and letting users see how different styles look in real time. The company is also planning to integrate a feature which will allow you to buy furniture you like directly from the app.
According to iStaging co-founder, Kevin Basset, the company started as the traditional “interior design/home staging company”. It was around 2014 when they met with some engineers and worked with Senyi Realty, a big real estate agency in Taiwan, and they created a staging app for them.
Currently, the company has two offices outside Taiwan, one in China and another in the US. Basset has plans to expand outside the country saying that Taiwan is not Silicon Valley, which makes it harder for startups to grow faster there.
The iStaging app has a pretty small user base for now with less that 5,000 downloads on the Android store, but it has mostly good reviews in Google Play.
