PH Climate Change Commission Promotes Energy Policy Review

In an effort to change the Philippine’s power development plans and to look for alternative renewable sources of energy, the government conducted a review of the country’s energy rules.

In consonance with the Resolution No.2016-00, the Philippine Climate Change Commission and other key government agencies were given a period of six months to one year to administer a national review and create a development plan for energy.

The Climate Change Commission (CCC) is an organized policy-making body of the government under the president’s command. It is tasked to come up with sustainable programs and plans that will promote a climate-smart country.OK

The commission aims to supervise a nationwide plan to implement low-carbon development pathway. Among its goals are disaster risk reduction and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Moreover, the CCC demands for a well-thought policy regarding coal-fired power plants, which remains the biggest sources of artificial carbon emissions.

CCC Sec. Emmanuel de Guzman is confident that the country’s government agencies will work harmoniously to support the country’s commitments in preventing the worst possible impacts of climate change.
