Last week, all the medalists of the ASEAN Olympic were given free flights by AirAsia during a gala event held in the JW Marrriot Hotel in Bangkok. The gala was attended by AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes, AirAsia country CEOs, Thailand’s Vice Minister for Tourism and Sports, Associate Professor Chavanee Tongroach as well as government and sports officials.

The medalists were all smiles as they receive their awards. They were given special AirAsia BIG card in gold, silver and bronze that will allow them to fly and visit more than 120 destinations within AirAsia and AirAsia X’s extensive network in Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Africa. Gold medal winners received a lifetime of free flights, while silver and bronze medal winners received five and three years’ worth of free flights respectively.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said that they were honored to be able to present free flights to the men and women who have inspired people with their excellence in sports. Fernandes continued by saying that sports is often overlooked in the Southeast Asia but their achievements show that Asians can be the best in the world. He added that athletes would be able to make use of the free flights whenever they want and as many times as they want with no conditions whatsoever. The CEO sincerely hopes that they will enjoy flying with AirAsia.
