To protect its customers from illegal activities involving their products and services, Globe Telecom together with the Philippine police nabbed 7 broadband fraudsters involved in the illegal sale of the company’s LTE modems.

Arrested during the joint entrapment operations were David King Esguera, John John Mamuyac, Marc Searle Arboleda, Ma. Joanna Garcia, Michael Pascua, Thomas Jefferson, and Angeline Manlapao.

The operations against the arrested were based on the list of Globe LTE modem sellers online. The suspects are believed to be engaged in a modus operandi involving the obtaining of LTE modems on the pretext of device upgrade or repair. The devices are then reconfigured and sold online.

Globe Vice President for Security and Anti-Fraud and Investigation Division Ronald Uychutin said that Globe strongly discouraged their customers in purchasing internet connectivity devices from unauthorized dealers and instead buy only from legitimate agents. Uychutin added that the telecom company will continue coordinating with police authorities towards its campaign against fraudsters.
