Senator Chuck Schumer made the demand towards the NRA to get behind President Obama’s push for the enforcement of existing gun control laws. Schumer’s announcement comes just a week after Obama had announced a slew of executive actions that will ideally curb gun violence in the United States, which includes the funding of extra ATF agents.
It has been said that many of the actions, such as the requirement of background checks for the guns bought from dealers on the internet and at gun shows, may never get the support from gun enthusiasts or Republicans. Agents from the ATF are also charged with helping with the enforcement of the gun background check. In some cases, law-breaking gun dealers may also be shut down.
