Lanternhas recently raised a $17 million Series A round. It was led by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s venture arm, albeit with some participation from SoftTechVC and Mayfield, who were previous investors. Lantern, for the unaware, is a mental health startup that provides tools to help deal with anxiety, stress, and body image issues.
Lantern’s plans for the funding include focusing more on integrating itself into employer insurance plans. Such a move would allow employees the chance to access Lantern as a benefit. Another would be to invest further into research studies, which would show economic proof that symptom reduction can positively affect employers’ bottom line regarding health costs. At present, Lantern remains a small company with only seventeen full-time employees.
