Mattermark, a B2B search and analytics tool recently raised US$7.3 million in a Series B round. It was led by existing backer Foundry Group, and new investor John Hallet. Other previous investors also participated.
The money will be used by the company to hire new talents, and to further develop their analytics in an expanded category of business users. The company uses techniques such as natural language processing, web crawling and distributed crawling to build profiles of companies. The data that they gather include inbound links, web traffic, social media followings, employee count, key executives, news mentions, etc.
The starting price per year for a user license is $6,000. It can go up to $50,000 per year with more integrations. The company has been generating around $300,000/month today. It’s not very profitable according to the company, but their current focus is on breaking even.
