New Literature-Based Social App Arrives

For all the book lovers out there, a brand new social app has appeared on the horizon: Litsy. The startup was founded by Jeff LeBlanc and Todd Lawton, who derived the idea from connecting with Out of Print fans at comic book conventions and book festivals. Although similar apps, such as Goodreads, already exist, Lawton hoped to create a community through Litsy that offered more than just book reviews.

“What we wanted,” Lawton said, “was take the best, most fun aspects of other social media platforms and back it with an amazing book database.” Each posts on the app take on numerous forms; it may come in the form of a blurb, a review, or even a quotation. There is a 300-characters limit, which means anything written would have to be incredibly concise. Other features include the ability to mark spoilers, a “Litfluence” score, which helps identify the app’s most influential people, and many more.
