Uber-like Roadie Gives You an Alternative Method of Shipping

“Someone is always leaving everywhere” and this fact served as the inspiration behind Roadie, a peer-to-peer package delivery service that Marc Gorlin launched last year. According to Gorlin there are likely around 250 million vehicles on the road every single day and he took advantage of it.

Roadie works like Uber, except instead of transporting people, drivers of private vehicles are transporting things to places that they’re already going to. The cost of shipping an item would depend on the size and the distance it is going. Example, a delivery just across a town may cost around $8 while transporting furniture a couple of states away may cost a few hundred dollars. All you have to do is post a gig on Roadie and drivers heading in the same direction can make an offer. You can the option to accept or ignore the offer based on the driver’s rating and reviews.

Drivers can get a Road Warrior badge on their record especially if they’ve logged a lot of miles. Another badge they can get is a Pet Lover Badge for pet gigs.
