Apple May Leave Samsung for New iPhone Chip

Samsung and Apple have been competitors for years when it comes to smartphone market shares, but have been known to partner up when it comes to chips. However, a recent report has indicated that TSMC will be the only manufacturer for the next iPhone’s A10. This could mean the end of Samsung’s limited partnership with Apple.

On their part, Apple has already worked with TSMC previously. The A9 chips present in both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are manufactured currently by both Samsung and TSMC. Prior to that, TSMC has served as the sole supplier of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus’ A8 chip. The Electronic Times has reported that TSMC will begin production of the A10 sometime in June.
