In response to Duterte’s 10-point economic agenda, around 400 corporate executive gave their recommendations to the the president-elect’s economic managers after a two-day workshop. Incoming Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez said that the workshop has been very productive with everyone contributing and sharing their ideas.
President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry George Barcelon said that the consultation will serve as “building blocks for collective synergy and competitive landscape supportive of growth.”
The recommendations included a proposal for the adoption of a comprehensive tax reform package, implementation of a national ID system to facilitate social services, improvement of internet infrastructure, and automation of business permits and licensing system among many others.
Duterte said that he will study the proposals after the presentation and commented that they were “doable”.
