SpaceX has delayed the commercial launch of one of its satellite payloads in order to wait for better weather. The reason for the delay had nothing to do with the liftoff. Instead, it is so that they can land the Falcon 9 rocket’s booster better. The decision was announced on Sunday via the Twitter account of the company’s chief executive, Elon Musk.
This will be the company’s first return to flight after the accident earlier this year with its Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX aims to launch 11 ORBCOMM communications satellites, as well as the upgraded variant of their Falcon 9 rocket. Their attempts at landing and reusing its booster follows the successful landing of Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft last month.
