From Transformers to Real Steel, robots are undoubtedly the coolest Japanese invention ever. I maybe biased on this one but I guess its unarguably true.
If giant fighting robot movies excites you wait ’til the real-life battle begins between an Oakland,California-based American startup Megabots Inc. and Tokyo-based Suidobashi Heavy Industries.
Megabot founders Brinkley Warren, Matt Oehrlein and Gui Cavalcanti welded the 15-foot tall robot named Mark II in Redwood City, California and challenged Kogoro Kurata CEO/founder of Suidobashi Heavy Industries to unleash their own robot creation named “Kuratas”. Ultimately, this will be an international battle of robot pride. All tech-lovers, videogame addicts and robot enthusiasts will be pumped up to see the fight between these fighting machines. Team USA had already canvassed the help of NASA and other engineers to perfectly transform MARK II into a world-class invention while Team Japan is already prepared to release their robotic ammunitions and whatnot. Of course, this is such an interesting opportunity to showcase Kuratas so there’s no chance of them backing out on this one.
Win or lose, it’s all part of Megabots’ plan by to make gladiator-style robot combat into big-time entertainment — a mix between Ultimate Fighting Championship and Formula One auto racing — while developing new industrial technologies and inspiring a new generation of engineers. – japantoday.com
