As part of its push in modernizing its fleet, Starlite Ferries Inc. has just recently revealed its new Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) vessel at the Sta. Clara Pier in Batangas City. Named as M/V Starlite Eagle, the new vessel is the third of the five planned additions to Starlite’s fleet. The ship was built by a reputable Japanese shipbuilder at the Kegoya Docks in Kure near Hiroshima, Japan.
The Starlite Eagle comes with a rounded hull and a bulbous bow that is said to provide greater stability and wave-piercing efficiency respectively. With this, the Starlite Eagle and its family of modern ferries can go as fast as 13.5 knots versus the 11-knot capability of older ferries.
Aside from its improved sailing capabilities, the Starlite Eagle also boasts of its exceptional amenities such as an elevator for handicapped passengers, a room with beds for passengers with medical conditions, a room for mothers to breastfeed, and a playpen where kids can play.
Starlite Ferries’ brand new RoRo vessel can accommodate more than 700 passengers and carry more than 20 passenger buses. It is set to cover the Roxas-Caticlan/Boracay route together with Starlite’s earlier two ferries.
