The SeaDrone is the latest drone variant to bring something new to the table. This time, it allows for the simplicity of multi-rotor airborne drones to underwater applications. According to O-Robotix co-founder Eduardo Moreno, “You could consider it an underwater quadcopter. It’s not made like a missile, like other underwater drones.”
“It’s designed to stabilize itself. We focused on innovating on how a robot could capture very stable footage.” The SeaDrone is controlled using a tablet app. It also has an onboard OS that allows for programmable motions. According to Moreno, they are “currently focusing on aquaculture, because they’re the ones that require the most frequent dives.” The SeaDrone is fit to do several underwater tasks for the fraction of the cost of specialists.
