Popular music streaming service Spotify is finally adding video, but only for its mobile apps. The service is set to begin making use of video clips on its Android app. The iOS apps are set to follow not long after that. Users have been waiting for videos since May of 2015 when Spotify announced that it will expand beyond music and into digital video.
The videos are expected to be short and contextual. Some of the partners that have paired up with Spotify for this venture will be creating original content as well. The launch is a milestone for the company, which has struggled a few times in the past to turn a profit despite the rise in subscriber totals.
