Kate Wang, Uber China VP of Operations and Regional General Manager, showed off Uber’s new vision for China that includes two new offerings, UberLIFE and Uber + Travel. These offerings are expected to roll out across China this year.
Data showed that people still look at the Uber app for an additional 90 seconds as soon as they go inside the car, which led to Uber wanting to give them more features inside the app. UberLIFE serves a digital magazine that connects people to events around the city, may it be a sports event, an art event, or a play of some sort. The app is intended to let people spend more time inside the Uber app and help them ‘live a better life.’
For Uber+Travel, the functionality comes with connecting users to whatever they might need while travelling internationally. Uber can do this by tapping its network of partners around the world to help achieve that seamless travel experience and act as a facilitator for the travelling person. The app’s patent was filed at the end of the month last year.
“This reminds us that Uber is a global service serving global citizens,” Wang said. “It is rooted in each of the cities.”
Uber announced this month that it is on their course to become China’s most popular ride service by the end of the year.
