YouTube Kids launched outside the U.S.

Ever wondered when you can stop worrying about your little kids stumbling upon unsafe videos in YouTube?

After its launched in the U.S. February this year, YouTube Kids is expanding to the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland to assure parents that their young ones can spend quality time in YouTube, safe from all lewd and harmful contents.

Like its predecessor in the U.S., the recently launched application can be downloaded free for iOS and Android devices. It makes money from its advertisers, with their advertisements running in between the videos. In the U.K and Ireland, local channels such as Teletubbies and The Magic Roundabout and nursery-rhymes channels such as Little Baby Bum are highlighted.

Aside from filtering contents to ensure that family and child-friendly videos are only available, the application also removes commenting and uploading features and sets inappropriate search keywords to be blocked. Parents can also use the “flag” button when they think some videos are not suitable for their children.
