In October, Alibaba, which is co-founded by chairman Jack Ma, opened offices in UK and Italy as part of their plan to provide Chinese consumers with more foreign products through Taobao and Tmall. This cross-border sales is one of the things that differentiates the e commerce titan from rivals like JD.
To continue to sate consumers’ demand for new foreign goodies, Alibaba has opened offices in Munich, Germany, and Paris, France. The new offices will be headed and run by Terry von Bibra and Sébastien Badault, respectively.
According to the company, the new offices will “serve as a ‘gateway to China’ for international brands and businesses of all sizes.”
