Philippine Airlines President and COO Jaime J. Bautista revealed that improved air travel infrastructure is something that he wants to see from the next government. “With the implementation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations open skies, our country’s airports should have the proper facilities,” he said in a recent interview.
Having an open skies policy can help facilitate more direct flights towards and from major ASEAN destinations. It can also help in enhancing regional trade. Bautista noted the congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which presently deals with 140 movements per hour. Should there be no new infrastructure, Bautista added that the planes will just remain parked.
