World renowned island paradise destination Boracay has nearly reached the 1 million mark for tourist arrivals in the first half of 2016.
Tourist arrivals had an increase of 15.32 percent from 2015 and tallied 982,710 overall tourists for the first six months. The Malay Tourism Office projected a total of 1.7 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year.
Koreans led the visitor market followed by Chinese and Taiwanese tourists, with Malaysians and Americans rounding up the top 5 visitor markets in Boracay.
Domestic tourists made up almost half of the total arrivals with 484,131 tourists, and foreign tourists having 472,814 of the overall listing.
International interest on Boracay remained strong with a 32.33 percent increase in foreign arrivals for the period.
