The local arm of the US-based EGS is just the latest company to open in Davao City in the past month. The company is starting its operations with two hundred employees as part of its initial manpower, which is mainly for voice services. Their goal, as far as expanding towards other services is concerned, is to employ 1,500 by the end of 2017.
According to ICT-Davao President Samuel R. Matunog, more BPO firms like EGS are now employing people with specialized skills in fields such as medical or accounting. “Many of the locators are not only looking for talents in voice or outsourcing but also in non-voice, which requires higher order of skills and professionalism.”
