The League, a dating startup, is set to launch version 2.0 of their app in a brand new city: Los Angeles. Founder and CEO Amanda Bradford said The League has rolled out their updated app to users in New York and San Francisco, to little fanfare. The official launch of version 2.0 adds its first new city in nearly a year.
The League screens users before they are able to join, which has led to some charges of elitism. Although the screening process is still part of the app, there is a new focus on events. Members will be able to create interest groups and organize events for themselves. The brand new emphasis is not meant to eliminate dating or romance, but will help connections to form around shared interests instead.
