Local Government Units Get Help with Composting Facilities

Composting facilities worth Php100 million has been allocated by the government to 172 qualified local government units. The purpose of this allocation is to enhance the prospect for organic farming in the Philippines. A report from the National Solid Waste Management Commission shows that at least 4,0087.46 tons of waste is produced daily nationwide.

BSWM director, Dr. Silvino Q. Tejada had this to say: “We have been facing serious problems regarding proper management of waste disposal throughout the country.” There is a nationwide need to set up facilities near trading centers, markets, and residential areas to convert wastes into compost for the benefit of farmers and other related groups.
