Netflix Expands to 130 Countries

On Wednesday, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced during the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show that they have expanded into 130 more countries. Their efforts to spark major growth has led to their expansion into countries such as Vietnam, Nigeria, India, Poland, Russia and various others, particularly those where high-speed internet is readily accessible.

The expansion is also a way for the company to boost its user base beyond the United States, a territory where new subscriptions have already stalled. Hastings also revealed that users watched 12 billion hours of Netflix during the fourth quarter of 2015, which is up a quarter billion from the same period during the previous year. An increase in high-speed internet access is said to be a primary contributing factor.
