Nike has announced a mass production shoe that features real-life power laces. This announcement comes on the heels of the company’s partnership with Michael J. Fox last October. The partnership was meant to tease a self-lacing Nike Mag, reminiscent of a scene for one of Fox’s movies: Back to the Future II.
The new product, called the HyperAdapt 1.0, will be the first to take advantage of Nike’s innovative adaptive lacing technology. In the announcement, the self-tying shoes were touted as a way of addressing a natural athlete concern, which is distraction. In short, to save time, they will automatically tighten as soon as the user steps into them. The shoes will launch during this year’s holiday season.
