Launched just today, RedZone is the new iOS app which allows users to avoid cruising through some of the shadier parts of town. For those who are new to a certain place, this is where the app comes in handy. Its purpose is to map out the “red zones” within an area that has high concentrations of crime.
The app’s data is partly crowdsourced and partly obtained from existing sources. As a result, a comprehensive crime map is at the disposal of the user. The technology present allows the average person to have greater awareness of his or her surroundings, and also enables for the sharing of information in communities around the world. An android version is in the pipeline.
