In a complete 360-turn from the previous year’s downers, Super Bowl advertisers are expected to go easy this year, turning towards humor instead. Bud Light has teamed up with famed comedians Seth Rogen and Amy Schumer for a mock-election type ad. Steven Tyler has his own bit with Skittles and Steve Harvey is rumored to parody his Miss Universe gaffe in a schtick with Snickers.
At least eight of the twelve advertisers have confirmed that their plan is to provide jokes during the commercial breaks. The Super Bowl is the most widely-watched annual television event in the United States. As a result, most advertisers work exceptionally hard to send their message to as wide of an audience as much as possible. The stories they tell are usually reflective of what the industry perceives as the cultural zeitgeist of the present day.
