One of the greatest breakthroughs in the field of archeology is the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, one of ancient Egypt’s most famous Pharaoh.
In a magazine published by The Meteoritical Society, scientists proved that the legendary dagger of Pharaoh Tutankhamun was made from an iron of a meteorite.
After a thorough study, scientists discovered that the weapon was forged from the Kharga meteorite. The meteorite fell near the city of Alexandria centuries ago, but was only discovered in the year 2000. Scientists theorized that ancient Egyptians must have witnessed the fall of the meteorite from the sky and decided to make something out of it.
The recent discovery suggests that the ancient Egyptians have mastered the art of forging iron long before the Iron Age. It also implies that the Egyptians’ understanding of the universe was far more advanced than Western Science.
Moreover, the study paved way to the understanding of the phrase ‘iron from the sky’ which is present in a number of Egyptian hieroglyphs acquired over time.
