Earlier this week, Facebook announced that its number of Messenger users reached 1 billion.

David Marcus, Vice President of Facebook, stated that they are now focusing on how to create the best possible communications experience to their users. He pointed out that they remain focused on connecting people and businesses. Marcus added that Messenger’s key users come from North America, Britain, Australia, France, Thailand, the Philippines and some other countries from Europe.

Facebook is working on making Messenger a platform that integrates other useful services such a chatbots that can deliver important messages like those that are related to businesses. As of this point, Messenger has around 18,000 active bots and are increasing daily

Messenger is next to Facebook in the list of the most popular apps in Apple’s iOS system. Facebook has now more than a billion users worldwide. The development in Facebook’s Messenger gives them greater reach, which enables them to create a “family” of applications beyond its own network.
