Spotify Acquires Cord Project and Soundwave

Cord Project and Soundwave have just been acquired by Spotify, in what is surely an indicator of what its next move could be. Cord Project is a company based in New York that specialized in simple voice-messaging platform for mobile devices. Soundwave is a startup based in Dublin with a social networking and music discovery app.

Few details regarding both companies’ deals with Spotify have been released. With its 20 million paid users, Spotify is still ahead of Apple Music. However, Apple is not a competitor to take lightly, which makes Spotify’s decision to acquire both Cord Project and Soundwave all the more justified. Both companies are sure to be valuable assets in making Spotify a much better competitor to Apple.
