Amazon Releases Free New Video Game Engine for Developers

Lumberyard, a video game engine newly released by Amazon, is available for free for developers. This free, cross-platform, 3D game engine will let you create the highest-quality games, connect your games on AWS Cloud, and engage fans on Twitch.

The game engine is based CryTek’s CryEngine, which is used to create games like Crysis, Far Cry and Evolve. Lumberyard can be customized for your team and your vision for your project at present, or for upcoming projects in the years to come. There are no seat fees, subscription fees, or requirements for shared revenue. You will only pay for the AWS services you choose to use.

Other packages that can be downloaded in game creation includes woodland assets with trees and vegetation, and a 1950s beach city-themed package with characters and indoor structures.
