Tholons, a Strategic Advisory firm that provides annual top 100 reports on different aspects of the global market, released a compilation of the 100 best outsourcing destinations all over the world for this year. The lucky 7th on the list is the Philippine’s Queen City of the South, Cebu.
Cebu moved one step higher from its 8th spot the previous year. The growth of economic zones and expanding talent pool, plus the excellent mix of companies and services can be accounted for the city’s developmental gains according to Tholons.
The end of 2015 saw Cebu with roughly 177, 000 IT-BPM workers in over 200 companies. However, Tholons believe that Cebu has not been marketed enough.
Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (Cedfit) managing director, Jun Sa-a believes in developing academe-industry linkage to move Cebu even higher on the list. He also suggested that the city’s mass transport infrastructure should also be improved.
Some of the biggest global companies that operates in Cebu include IBM, JP Morgan Chase, Convergys, Lexmark, Accenture, Teletech and Aegis. Sa-as said that the IT-BPM sectoe in Cebu is expected to grow by 15%-18% in the next 5 years.
