New California Law Regulates the Use of Hoverboards

New laws have been imposed on hoverboards by the state of California, particularly restrictions for the popular tech toy. The law, which went into effect on January 1st, required those riding the device on public roadways to stick to those roads that have speed limits of 35 miles per hour.

Other requirements include using a helmet, staying on bike lanes, and not exceeding 15 miles per hour. One more requirement prompted by the new law is that no one under the age of 16 can make use of a hoverboard on public roadways. For the next five years, the laws would be enforced by the California Highway Patrol. Violators face a fine of $250.
