Unlocking your doors with the use of your smartphone isn’t something you only see in the movies. In fact, there are have been homekits like the Kevo Smart Lock and the August Smart Lock, which allow you to leave your metal keys behind. The former however, requires you to touch the deadbolt when opening the door. There’s also a slight delay as the Kevo Smart Lock tries to connect with your smart phone, verifying who you are before unlocking your door. The August Smart Lock makes the process of unlocking faster.
Using the August mobile app, the auto-unlock feature can be enabled and your home area designated. Set this area to at least 200 meters. When you enter this area, your phone and the app will actively look for your lock and prepare to unlock it. You can also share your lock with selected family and friends by adding them as a “Guest”. Granting them “Owner” status however means they too can add more guests and enable the auto-lock feature on their own smartphones.
