Twitter Adds 24 More Characters to Each Tweet

Twitter announced earlier this week that it is lessening its strict adherence to the 140-character for each tweet. The company said that media attachments and @names in replies will no longer be counted in the maximum character count. Links, however, will still be counted.

Other changes that will be rolled out include the ability to retweet yourself and tweets starting with @ will immediately go out to all your followers instead of only to the person you replied to. There will also be longer descriptions for media like images, videos and quotes. This means you’ll know more about a certain video before you decide to watch it.
