According to reports on October 29th, Pfizer known for making pharmaceutical products and Allergan best known for their Botox anti-wrinkle treatment, are discussing a possible merger. If the proposed merger goes through, the combination would become a monster among medical firms, with a stock market value in excess of $300 billion, exceeding Johnson & Johnson which is considered as the world’s largest maker of drugs and medical devices.
On a transaction-related press released on November 23, 2015, Pfizer and Allergan have formally announced the largest medical merger in history which is worth $160 billion. The said merge will allow the combined company to move its headquarters to Ireland and focus on corporate cost cuts. Some of the people said, that Pfizer Chief Executive Ian Read will lead the combined company with Allergan CEO Brent Saunders, with the titles of president and chief operating officer.
