Beauty is a niche that many ecommerce sites have taken advantage of. Proof of its great potential is Venturra Capital’s decision to fund Sociolla, a beauty cosmetics and beauty e-commerce site from Indonesia. Funding participants included East Ventures and KapanLagi Group.
Although Sociolla faces direct competition from Luxola and Sephora, managing partner of East Ventures Willson Cucua believes investing in it is a good bet. Luxola is based in Singapore and covers most of Southeast Asia. According it Cuaca, in Indonesia, the incumbent players are slow so the opportunity is there.
Sociolla co-founders Christopher Madiam, John Rasjid, and Chrisanti Indiana plan to use the funds to boost not only the company’s tech infrastructure but also to introduce brand new features and hire new members to join their team in Jakarta.
