Recently, the country’s Labor Department issued a statement regarding workers’ pay during the Independence Day.
In Proclamation No. 1105 mandated last August 20, 2015, outgoing President Benigno S. Aquino III declared Independence Day as a regular holiday.
According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), non-government employees who have done overtime work on that day must be given an additional 30 percent of their regular hourly rate. Those who have reported to work during Independence Day, June 12, Sunday, should receive twice their salaries on that day.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) also stated that if an employee did not come to work during the Independence Day, he or she should still be paid 100 percent of his/her usual salary for that day. Also, if the holiday is the worker’s rest day, but he or she reported for work, he or she should be given an additional 30 percent on top of his or her “ double pay”.
