Employment Policies to be Developed or Revised in 2016

Several employment policies are in need of further development or revision as 2016 continues. The good news is that congress stayed politically incapacitated throughout 2015. The bulk of the changes that have occurred since then have only been at state and local levels. Some of the popular topics include minimum wage, paid sick leave, and pregnancy accommodation.

Regarding minimum wage, the efforts to increase it has shown no signs of abating. Meanwhile, Rhode Island, Washington DC, Maryland, and Delaware have seen minimum wage increases over the past year. Another issue tackled is that of paid sick leave legislations. Social media privacy has also been handled, limiting employer access to their employees’ social media accounts and passwords.
