It has been reported that Apple has acquired the education-technology startup LearnSprout. The company, which is three years old, is based in San Francisco. Its online data insights help K-12 educators keep track of students’ performances. It has raised $4.7 million across two rounds from investors.
Apple is working on education tools for its iPad in order to compete more effectively with low-cost Chromebook laptops that have been increasingly favored by schools. Educators have been purchasing a million Chromebooks per quarter for as far as the summer of 2014. The acquisition deal was reportedly closed last summer.
