The project is part of AboitizPower’s plan to increase their renewable energy portfolio. It is currently at 914.5 MW, with only 484.5 MW of it hydroelectric. The rest are geothermal. At present, Hedcor is building a 68.8 MW hydroelectric project in Impasug-ong and Manolo Fortich, which are both in Bukidnon.
