Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi: Pepsi is No Longer a Soda

The company has been famous for it’s addicting soda drink in the US but now, CEO Indra Nooyi claimed that Pepsi is no longer a Soda. Nooyi’s assertion is that the international company has evolved to become more health conscious as he demand for soda pop is decreasing.

Her statement also rings true on the part of the declining demand for the consumption of Pepsi. In 2015, it has been reported to be down by 3.2%.

PepsiCo has seen a widespread changes ever since Nooyi became CEO back in 2006. Nooyi shifted more the focus on core product innovations. Before her promotion, she was took part in the major steps that led to the evolution of food and beverages in the company.

So, strategies now is to sway customers by offering smaller portions, creating hipster craft like sodas, focusing more on water, as well as unsweetened drinks & guilt free items. PepsiCo isn’t abandoning the soda industry completely however, recent changes have proved worthwhile as they continuously offer an impressive ROI to shareholders.
