The premier university in the country, University of the Philippines (UP), and Vista Land & Landscapes, Inc. have signed the deal for the establishment of the first School of Technopreneurship in the country.
UP President Alfredo Pascual and Vista Land CEO Manny Villar were present in the signing of the memorandum of agreement to build the school which will be located at Vista City in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
The agreement states that UP will design the programs that will be offered while Vista Land will be in charge of building the initial facilities needed for the campus. The aim of the project is to bring new and better opportunities for startup businesses to flourish in the country in a technologically-advanced and supportive environment.
UP said in a statement that the campus is intended to facilitate collaboration and develop partnerships with the industries and business enterprises within the Southern Tagalog Mainland of CALABARZON for the promotion of education, training, and research in innovation.
Villar says that this venture will take the Philippines one step closer into making an economically progressive future a reality.
The announcement was made by Villar’s wife, Senator Cynthia Villar, in a Facebook post last June 28. The married couple are both alumni of UP-Diliman and are also entrepreneurs themselves.
Villar and Pascual were joined by Senator Cynthia, Vista Land Chairman Manuel Villar Jr., and UP Vice Presidents Gisela Concepcion and Elvira Zamora in the signing of the memorandum of agreement last Monday, June 27.
