Although normally opposed to new regulation, entrepreneur Mark Cuban has proposed that there ought to be a law that can eliminate confusion in the event of another Apple security controversy. Although he has applauded Apple for holding its ground against the FBI and refusing to break into iPhones that belong to San Bernardino terrorists, Cuban believes there should be a law to clarify times when governments can request hacks.
Cuban has stated that he is for a law that is specific on when vendors may be forced to grant a similar access as Apple has been asked to do. He is in favor of phone inspections only in regards to terrorist events “where the person is deceased.” This proposed law by Cuban would also apply towards apps and whether or not they would be required to give out passwords.
